The murder of one of Cab Station's own rocked the residents of the town, but the case soon goes cold and is apparently forgotten for decades. That is, until Nicholas Tucker Tyson-NT, for short-and his friend Daisy learn the identity of the victim. They start their own investigation, adamant that justice must be served. They track clues and interview people who knew the victim well, only to end up with more questions than answers. Along the way, they befriend Hoot, who unknowingly holds the key to solving the mystery. In between golf practice, basketball challenges, and trips to the ice cream parlor, NT and Daisy relentlessly search for the truth. In the end, their beloved town of Cab Station is rocked once again as deep secrets are finally revealed.

Author Biography

Holly Spofford combines her love of the game of golf and her skill at story-telling to deliver her first novel-one she says can be read and enjoyed by anyone between the ages of ten and eighty. Holly graduated from Hollins University with a degree in English. She coached boys and girls sports for twenty-five years and taught middle school English for seventeen years. After much internal debate and discussion, she left the world of education to realize her childhood dream of writing a book. A Letter for Hoot was inspired by the mystery unit that had been part of her teaching curriculum. She currently resides in Wayne, Pennsylvania, with her husband John, and can occasionally be seen riding in the rumble seat of her father's antique LaSalle, usually on her way to play golf.
