The Looney Family on the Rugged Frontier - Paperback
by Patricia H. Quinlan (Author)
Robert Looney brought his wife and seven children from the Isle-of-Man in 1734, landing in Philadelpia. He settled first on the south side of the Potomac River. Within a few years, he moved his family into what is now Botetourt County, Virginia. Settlelers along the Appalachian Valley were the far frontier serving as a buffer against Indian attacks east of the Blue Ridge. Robert would lose four sons and other family members to Indian attack. One son would be captured. The family would prosper, grow and expand into Tennessee, Alabama and eventually many other states.
