by Sonja Heisinger (Author)

In what readers are calling "historical fiction at its finest", Liberty Hill dazzles with romance and adventure.

New York City, 1849--After her father is murdered, eighteen-year-old Irish heiress Evelyn Brennan can't imagine her life getting any worse... until she's forced into an arranged marriage with the man she despises most, the charming but reckless gambler Lucius Flynn. Though they grew up together, a painful childhood memory stands between them, and now Evelyn has reason to believe Lucius might be responsible for her father's death.

Flush with Evelyn's dowry and hungry for adventure, Lucius makes arrangements to drag his headstrong bride along the quickest but deadliest road to the gold fields of California. But as they embark on the dangerous trek through the jungles of Panama, a handsome outlaw catches Evelyn's attention, and Lucius realizes he must prove he's more than the man Evelyn believes he is before he loses her heart to another man forever.

With exquisite imagery, sharp prose, and a dynamite cast of characters, Liberty Hill is the first book in an epic western trilogy that brings the romance and lawlessness of the California Gold Rush to life. It's the story of a time and place where all fortunes, dreams, and innocence may be lost; where lust demands blood, and love inspires sacrifice. Fans of Amy Harmon's Where the Lost Wander won't want to miss it.

About the author:

A California native, Sonja Heisinger has lived and traveled all over the world. She published her first novel, the inspirational For He Is Summer, when she was just twenty years old. A few years later, she lost both her parents in a car accident, and her brother shortly after. To make sense of her grief, she began to draw and write voraciously. Today she is a professional artist - follow her on Instagram @sonjartsinger - and author of the bestselling Liberty Hill series, a romantic drama set during the California Gold Rush. She lives in North Carolina with her husband and two sons, and there's nothing she loves more than her family, two-stepping, freshly brewed French Press, and a good glass of red wine.

In 2020, she combines her affection for country music with her intimate knowledge of love and loss in a moving short story collection, Anthology, which will be released to Kindle month by month, story by story. Follow her on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook for news, release dates, and exclusive content.
